HI I'm Matt, the creator of MjH Leathercraft.
My approach is a little bit different, I class my work as freestyle, very little is planned.
I never know how a piece will look when finished, this allows me to be unbound by rigid patterns.
Each piece is an original creation, inspired by nature, geometric forms, and colour.
I work exclusively with the best leather in the world solid hardware and hand selected vintage/antique brooches, buckles and buttons

Commissions are considered, but must align with my core design principles. I prioritise artistic integrity and am selective in the projects I undertake. If you seek a truly unique, thoughtfully crafted piece, get in touch.

Commissions

Bespoke commissions---------------------------------------------------- I will take on Comissions if they are unusual, creative, or strange i'll usually end up saying yes to it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There will be some significant stipulations for this which will be: It has to be a unique design, I won't make a belt, black wallet etc please don't be offended if I decline your request it's not personal I will only make what interests me................................................................................................... I am happy to make other items want a leather makeup box with a mandala on top you got it.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't like zips and rarely use them but will for small items. I wont make to a tight deadline. I am happy to emulate previous bags I have made but it will never be exactly the same. I have creative control but will also want you to be happy so happy to talk colours, Mandala etc but I have to be able to work with my own creative flair with minimal interference...................................................................................................................... The cost will have to include research, potentially buying mandalas templates etc so please consider this as it will impact the cost. I will need a deposit, which will be refundable up until I start on your bag /item, how much will depend on what leather you need and if I need to buy any additional materials.

Care

My bags are wearable artwork and need to be treated as such so some additional care needs to be given by the new owners.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Each bag will get free aftecare for the remainder of its life, this includes strap and hardware repair plus any damage taken repaired to the best of my ability regardless of the age of the bag .-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------****PLEASE ONLY USE RENAPUR BALM ON ANYTHING YOU PURCHASE FROM ME, APPLY WITH A SOFT FURNATURE BRUSH**** I will include a digital care sheet with every item I sell.

Refunds

My main priority is customer satisfaction. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are not happy with your bag for what ever reason in the first week I will refund. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mistakes are made but are few and far between ( they are handmade after all) So most bags have at least one small error 😅, -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I will attempt to repair any issues regardless of age ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Custom work is non refundable if started, however I am happy to refund a deposit if I have not bought the materials.

Tarriffs PLEASE READ

in regards to the ever changing tariffs these are not something I'm willing to pay There have been a few occasions where the charge was well over 10% nearing nearly 50 This is not something I unfortunately cannot absorb. if you are tempted to buy from America please speak to me first! maybe wise to wait until the tariffs have gone altogether But I will help out where I can.

ADHD AND FORGETFULNESS

Yup I'm one of those neurodivergent types :D___________________________________ ADHD has an impact on everything I do ,mostly positive and is definitely the catalyst for the leftfield leatherwork,, but does mean I forget a heck of a lot, and I make mistakes usually costing me money ;D so you will have to take this into account you will be asked the same questions a fair amount, I may forget your commission if it's not been started_______________________________________________I'm always happy for reminders____________________It's just who I am and I'm ok with that.

I ordered a bespoke leather sleeve for my sketchbook. From the very first contact Matthew was incredibly helpful. He worked with me to get a design that echoed my paintings and kept me up to date every step of the way. he even went above and beyond by creating a leather waller for the sketch book to protect the mandala design. he also added some very cool additional patterns inside the sleeve. His attention to detail is meticulous and is eye for colour and design is incredible. A truly talented man who combines beauty with functional and practical design! Shall be coming back for more!

Commissioned a custom wallet from Matt, Although I knew what lettering I wanted, I didn't really know what font. Needless to say, Matt smashed it out of the park, absolutely perfect and even customised it so it was unique for me.
